Week 6 Blog

I chose "Yesterday" by The Beatles. This is a classic that almost everyone has heard at least once. The guitar stands out in this song. It follows the song so well and the really sets the mood. The song is about looking back to a better time. Paul McCartney sings about looking back to yesterday when he had no troubles. Halfway through the song he mentions a girl who "Had to go I don't know, she wouldn't say". He then says he needs a place to hide and longs to return to yesterday. This song is considered by many to be one of the most famous pop songs to ever be written and released which says a lot. In the modern day we see a lot of people come up with all these crazy concepts and deep lyrics when in reality its the simple things that stick with us. This song isn't inherently deep or confusing which allows it to connect with a much larger audience. Someone doesn't need to spend an hour deciphering what the song means to them so they can connect with it better. Overall this song just shows how great the Beatles really were. They didn't need to go all out on every song to make a hit and Yesterday shows that.
