Switched on Pop 1

I listened to the episode "We *do* talk about Bruno". In this episode they explain why the song "We Don't Talk about Bruno" gained so much popularity. It is very unusual for a Disney movie song to get to the top of the charts, let alone number one on the charts. So it is very interesting that this song made it to the top. One of the hosts says the musical accompaniment can be attributed to why it made it so far to the top. He talks about how the upper voices really ground you into the beat and the left hand just accompanies the real melody. The is a tactic to get you up and dancing, especially with the syncopatedness of the melody. The dark feel and minor key also adds to the mysterious of the song and makes a suspenseful theme which makes listeners want to keep listening. They also explain that each verse having a different style keeps it interesting and prevents the listener from getting bored even after multiple times listening. They also explain that the song being written by Lin-Manuel Miranda could be a factor into why it is so popular. Miranda is a master of making hits that people cannot get enough of listening to. He how somehow mastered how to make people listen to his music over and over. His earlier works slowly expose you to his tricks that you hear in his new music that keep his fans listening and listening to whatever he puts out.
